Captain GG
But can you imagine when the vessel that he boards and governs is carrying liquid oil? In this case the ship seems to be like a floating barrel boat. Isn’t he responsible for the lives of all the people who travel by boat? It is also responsible for ensuring that the cargo it carries reaches its destination intact. If oil escapes into the sea and creates an oil spill, it will be an environmental disaster and the beaches may be filled with black tar.
As scary as this “floating barrel” scenario sounds, we need to think about all those cosmonauts being launched on the space companies’ rockets. How much hard training does a man need to launch a rocket? The next human launch will probably take place in 2025. The destination is the Moon. The cosmonauts’ compensation for their hard training is that they see the Earth from the Moon knowing that they have travelled some 384,000 kilometres away from Earth. The compensation and pleasure of a captain who sails all the seas of the Earth is certainly different.
The captain of a ship performs various responsible and necessary jobs that will be presented to the ship while it is sailing. He can become a firefighter. He can act as a priest and marry couples. He or she may administer intravenous morphine to relieve the pain.
Whenever necessary, we will learn a lot from his travels. For example, he has come across the two huge dumps of plastic rubbish floating in the Pacific Ocean. Charles Moore, a former sailor, accidentally found the sea of garbage in 1997 or so from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Unfortunately, syringes, lighters and toothbrushes have been found in the stomachs of dead birds, which ingest these items, passing them off as food. So he is the most appropriate person to make us realise that we have to be careful not to throw plastic rubbish into the sea.
Captain GG helps us understand navigation issues that stars often use by building navigation instruments. He brings us delicacies and interesting finds from his travels.
